Your Web Site: A Repository, Resource, and Time-Saver

Page 1: Introduction

Today's powerful, database-driven church web sites have in them the often-untapped potential to serve as data repositories, organizing and archiving the mountains of useful information which a typical church produces in the course of everyday ministry. Think about it--what types of information do your church staff and volunteers produce on a regular basis? A typical church might produce information like:

  • One or more sermons each week
  • Weekly bulletins
  • Monthly newsletters
  • Small-group Bible study handouts
  • Sunday School curriculum
  • Committee/team meeting minutes
  • and much more!

As a lay-person myself, I've found it frustrating in the past when I've spent hours developing a resource such as a Bible study for a specific group at my church, only to have the resource lost forever after being used once.

This article will outline a basic guideline for archiving and organizing your resources using your web site. Lastly, we'll look at a quick summary of the benefits of doing so.
